You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
We are discovering from the twenty-third psalm that the Christian life is all of God and all of grace.
This love led life is a life:
  • without lack
  • lived from rest
  • of quiet
  • free from fear even in the most "fearful" of circumstance
And now as we come to the heart of the Psalm we get a wonderful insight into the nature of covenant love. Listen afresh to this statement: "You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies."

Beloved, is it not the case that our greatest enemies are within not without? Isn't it the truth that for many of us we are our greatest enemy?

Covenant love blesses us in spite of ourselves. Imagine that, covenant love is undisturbed and simply prepares a banquet for us in the midst of all our toxic self-talk, our doubts and our unfaithfulness.
