The Winning Habit

Losing as well as winning can become a habit' in fact psychologists say that if you see yourself as a loser, you'll find a way to lose and if you see yourself as a winner then you'll find a way to win.

I think that is such a truism, and maybe that is why identity is at the heart of the grace message.

The liberation and the sheer exhilarating freedom that comes from discovering who you really are is simply wonderful.

The truth is that because we have such a warped vision of God and who He is and consequently who we need to be if we  want to stay in with Him we've developed a skewed vision of who we are.

When the Good news of the gospel takes hold it will impact you in a number of ways:

1. Your identity - you will discover who you really are

2. Self-image - how you see yourself

3. Self-esteem - how you feel about yourself

Life's experiences have radically shaped and indeed misinformed us about who we are. Most people (Christian or not) have grasshopper syndrome.

You remember the story in Numbers 13:33-33 don't you?  The spies, including Joshua,  came back from the land with a faith-sapping report " The land we explored devours those living in it.  All the people we saw were of great size. There we saw the Nephilim; we seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes and so we looked the same to them.

Don't let your self-image rob you of your destiny - you my In-Christ-friend are the giant and the world which you're to subdue is the grasshopper.
